Remove a PDF password

Drop in a protected PDF and get back one that opens without a password and allows copying, printing and editing.

Up to 25 MB and 150 pages per file. Nothing is saved to disk.

The two kinds of locked PDF

People call both “locked”, but they behave differently and only one of them needs anything from you.

Open password
The file will not open at all until the password is typed. Nobody can recover this for you, so you have to supply it — we will ask for each file that needs one.
Permissions password
The file opens fine but is marked no-copy, no-print or no-edit. Those marks are an honour system that readers choose to obey, and they come off without a password.

What happens to your file

  • Your PDF is held in memory for the seconds it takes to process and is never written to disk.
  • The password you type is used once and never stored or logged.
  • The unlocked file is sent straight back to your browser. We keep only its name, size and outcome.

Currently: Guest. 25 MB per file, 150 pages, 10 files an hour. Signing in raises the file limit to 100 MB and 5,000 pages, and keeps a history of what you have processed. The 10 files an hour stays the same.
